Reclamation

My Reclamation scarf picture while blocking.

Project Stats:
Pattern: Reclamation by Stephanie Japel
Yarn: Cascade 220 Superwash in a Mallard Blue/Green
Needle Size: US 10
Started: May 23, 2009
Completed: May 24, 2009

This was my one project I knit on during our Memorial Day camping trip. I was too tired to knit anything else, though I did bring it all with me. Great thing about having an RV...I don't have to leave anything at home. I read a book the rest of the time.

Sometimes....

when you find a cool website that is totally craft related, you just have to share.

For those of you that enjoy sewing, take a wander over to:

Moda Bake Shop

What little bit of time I have had lately has been dedicated to the GrisRoy and sewing. I've thrown in a touch of knitting here and there, but it is just not giving me that creative fulfillment.

This weekend will most likely give me time for a bit more knitting...but I have been thinking of some embroidery I would like to do as well.

I bet I will be doing homework, if anything.

Spring Ruffle Top #1

Spring Ruffle Top 5-16-09

I finished this top last night. I hand stitched down the straps, but the rest was completed on the sewing machine. At first, I did not like how it was blousing out like a maternity top. I read down a bit into the tutorial and found a small note about shaping. I gave it a good curved seam on the sides of the body, which helped greatly. When I make this top again, I will leave off the ruffles and do the side seams with a shaped curve prior to attaching to the bodice.

As for the colors, it is more turquoise and brown than a mint and brown!

A bit of stenciling in the Grisroy!

Before and After in the Grisroy

Before pictures on the left. After pictures on the right.

1. Grisroy Before Jan 08 2, 2. Grisroy After May 09 2, 3. Grisroy Before Jan 08, 4. Grisroy After may 09

Before you break out in uncontrolled laughter, please remember...it is paid for!

What we have done to remodel the Grisroy, a 20 foot Minnie Winnie, could not be any worse than when we purchased it in January 2008. Mind you, the Mister was not even there to look, see, test, check, and inspect this $1,600 beast. I took the neighbors with me after the Mister found it on Craigslist. They wanted $1,800, but JUMPED at the $1,600 cash offer I made.

The floor was bad, the whole thing smelled old. The stove/oven combo was something left to be desired.

In comes our little handy work. Last year, the Mister put in a brand new stove/oven combo, which costs as much as a stove one would buy for a home, Purgo-type flooring, and a new heating system.

I have spent a bit of time the past few weeks, painting, washing, cleaning, scrubbing, and now stenciling to make it fun and camping worthy.

No, it is not new. Yes, he still needs to hook up the shower, but we do have a toilet. The frig works great too!

I am not a person that "does" blue, but this was an old can of robin egg's blue I had in the paint storage, so I put it to good use.

I have a bit more to do on the stenciling before we head up to the mountains on Memorial Day weekend, where I will be able to sit in my new camping chair, drink ice tea, and knit to my hearts content.

There is nothing like camping and knitting with the Grisroy!

Spring Ruffle Top

Brown and Mint Top

Here is the start of the Spring Ruffle Top in a chocolate and a mint fabric. I spent about two hours tonight, cutting out the pieces, making ruffles, sewing the bodice to the body. I have all the pieces turned and ready to sew down. Instead of using the machine and possibly getting off track, I plan to finish most of it by hand, then stitch down the straps with the machine.

I am really happy how this is turning out.

Sewing Again!

Nightgown

A tutorial of the Spring Ruffle Top can be found at the blog of Sew Mama Sew.

I have two set of fabrics to make this top. I wanted to do a run-through on some cotton/linen that I had set aside for a nightgown. Well, this was the pattern to use.

I followed the instructions and only added the floor length to make it into a nightgown.

I plan on a few embroidered flowers on the front.

I'm here, where are you?

Pickled Asparagus

I have been knitting, a bit. I've also been quilting, doing homework, and canning.

Check out The Five Mile Furrow for today's events.

Tonight, DD #2 and I are going to see A Midsummer Nights Dream at the high school.

Very early tomorrow morning, I will be taking the Mister to the airport. He will be in Illinois for the week.
