Time flies when not knitting...

Here it is. My tribute to the English-style moveable chicken coop. I saw one in the Sept/Oct 98' issued of Countryside Magazine...it gave a few measurements and a list of the materials used, but for the most part...it was built as I went.
My dh wants to claim back the land my five chickens are currently using....no where near the garden. To save my garden and my chickens all in once swoop...I took the past week to build a safe and functional area for 3-4 chickens to run and roost.

Folks, I just have to say there is nothing, I mean, nothing like a fresh farm egg.
I still need to finish the flashing for the roof and the vents on the roost-house sides. There is a back door that opens to gather eggs with ease.
Winkie and Buttercup will love all the little bugs in my orchard area...

I've been tagged...

I have been tagged by Liberty's Yarn!
Here are the rules:Each person tagged gives 7 random facts about themselves. Those tagged need to write in their blogs the 7 facts, as well as the rules of the game. You need to tag seven others and list their names on your blog. You have to leave those you plan on tagging a note in their comments so they know that they have been tagged and to read your blog.
Here goes...
1. I built a log home.
2. I keep two alarm clocks on my nightstand. An electric one that goes "beep beep" from my high school years (25 years ago) and a windup one (the "green/homestead" side of me).
3. I remember numbers. If I use it a few times...it's in my head. ie all the ss#'s in my family, even my ex-husbands (LOL), my 17 digit library card number, phone numbers, etc.
4. I use wooden hangers on my side of the closet. I gave all the plastic hangers to my husband.
5. I'm a BBC fanatic. I watch BBC movies and shows. Monarch of the Glen is currently in my portable dvd player, with Ballykissinger up next.
6. I have only flown two times, on a smaller jet. To Edmonton, Alberta both of those times. I'm a afraid of flying.
7. For my 50th birthday and my 15th wedding anniversary I want to go to Scotland. I guess I would have to fly...I've got a quite a few years to get over my fear.

Now, time to tag...

I love going to the post box

Look what arrived today. Troy, the postman that calls me by name, then post box number, snuck this up to the other post lady at the counter while I was standing in line. As I walk up to the counter, she hands it to me. Too funny.
Graham is not a small town. Heck, it doesn't even have its own township. We are a burb...what use to be considered "all farm land" and "out in the boonies" has now become another high priced, contractors eat up all the land and sell huge houses on little plots for, oh, 400K - 500K. Ugh! I moved away from Tacoma to be "out in the boonies". Now there are high priced Italian bistro's and Harley Davidson shops just a few miles away.
My acreage is my island...I just hope my neighbors don't sell out to the big contractor man.
Wow, how did I get from the new book arriving to a rant on being over crowded. I guess that's life.
Happy knitting to you all.

3rd of 52 Pair Plunge

Who would have thought it could take so long to finish the last four inches of a sock. Not I, but it certainly did. This is what happens when a good book gets between myself and the knitting.
This is the 3rd pair of the 52 Pair Plunge. Wool and silk yarn. Yeah, two more balls out of the "hold all stash" drawer.

IK Summer 2007

Well, it arrived today in the post box. I am happy that is arrived early, now to see what projects await inside. I did take a peek while sitting in the parking lot of the post office and found that the new format is still there. Ugh!

I have already shared my thoughts on the new format...so I will either have to live with it or cancel my subscription. Maybe I can last through a couple of editors and they might bring back the layout style I enjoyed so much.

KTE Package arrives from The Netherlands

What a lovely package I received in the post box today.
Full of lovely items such as a tea from Blanche Dael, a Stroopwafels (Dutch treat), girly lotions and potions, a British magazine "Gardener's World" (score) and three wonderful skeins of Phildar Linbel (cotton/Flax/Bambou).
A very BIG thank you to my KTE Pal...check out her blog at mimmelli.
